What a Great Site and has also informed me on some of the cruel things that are going on on Fraser Island. Being a Qlder I can't own a dingo but it doesn't stop me wanting to save the Dingo. Especially as Fraser Island has the Purest ones in Oz. I've been into Utes for a long while[8 years]. My Daily Driver Rodeo is called"dingo Dancer" and my V8 Au Trayback is Called "Warrigal"; which is also cut into her 5 post Bullbar. If you ever want to use hese in protests or Demonstrations[Legal and Peaceful]; I'd be more than happy to oblige.

great site the problem is that all that like to think of conservation would like to live in the ideal world we have long passed the point of no return regretably, the only way now is to try and maintain what is left as well as a relaxing of legisations to keep wild animals, hence forth only some will survive. while not being happy with my idea i see it as the only way as all echo systems interact and with our country driven by this minning boom no where is safe. ive owned a dog now for over six years he is my my best dog digerman, ive had german breeds and catle dogs my australian dog has not only captured our hearts but also given me a new understading of wildlife in general. i even believe that there could be a element of telephey in theier omunication, wild i know but you have to have kept and bonded with these animals to understand. great site and great work

I don't know the exact details, but a ranger was sacked recently from Fraser Island for feeding the dingoes. Dingoes on Fraser Island are starving.
Should we accept that Andrea Leverington's (director of QPWS) 'don't feed the dingoes on Fraser Is, let them starve' policy was prepared with expert input? Should we accept Fiona Leverington's (also QPWS) claim to be an authority on the subject?
Now is the time for change. Two Queensland government departments (including QPWS) have merged into a department calling itself DERM. There should be debate on this nonpolicy of 'not feeding the dingoes'.

enjoyed reading comments. Not sure if my dog is a dingo but he sure looks exactly like one! He has such a sweet, playful nature. So smart, alert and looks me straight in the eyes. I thought dogs didn't like doing that?? He must be about eleven now. Got him from a neighbour when he was a young pup. She used to beat him with a garden hose. He doesn't get hurt here in any way, just love and fun. Best friend anyone could have.So loyal and he usually does what he's told too. See ya!

I am all for 'save the dingo', however I would also like to 'save my beloved dog and pet goats from the dingo'.

I was very disappointed to find there was no information on humane dingo management methods on your site. Instead of simply saying "don't kill dingos", it would be helpful to people like me who have spent hours searching for viable alternatives.

There are many sites telling how beautiful they are, where they come from, their prevalence, their impact on native and exotic fauna and the horrors of poisoning. Management and deterrent methods, besides that of 1080 and a very very long fence, are sadly lacking.

For example, which breeds of dogs are most effective against dingos for livestock protection? Specifically dogs suited to hot climates (not snow). Another example may be dingo traps which do not harm the animal (fence type traps?), so that they could be captured and relocated (by?). Incidentally, don't google 'dingo trap' or you will have nightmares for weeks.

Dingo Warrior Reply:

The Dingo Warrior web site is to let people know what is happening to the dingo, there are lot of other web sites that can help you with what you need.

Please refer to our answer to your comment in our blog, Dingo Screaming, as this may offer a solution for you.
:o I'm embarrassed I haven't visited earlier. And I call myself an animal-oriented dingo companion ...

This site is quite well set out, but I would like to see more information on it.

I've also looked at Dingo Screaming, listed up top as a menu item. I downloaded the document they linked to at the NSW Dept of Primary Industries.

I was unutterably hurt and shamed by it.

I leave both these sites now with a hardened, burning resolution and a promise.

I undertake that my dingo, Isis, will now accompany me EVERYWHERE. A truly beautiful creature, Isis is an ambassador for her kind and will present an ongoing, 'live' opportunity for animal lovers and the curious to become better informed. A living, breathing part of our heritage, a reminder of our duty of care to our native species, and a warm, robust presence for any and all who approach her.

:-)Great stuff I have jsut started a myspace page on the Dingo and have had Dingoes for years, we need as many people as we can get to get together and help save the PURE bred Dingo.
THe one thing that farmers seem to forget in their efforts to stamp out the Dingo and Dingo cross breeds is that their own farm dogs Kelpies. Blue Healers, and Cattle dogs all have dingo DNA in them so if they truely want to kill all the Dingo cross breeds they had better start by killing all their own dogs.
My myspace address is www.myspace.com/helpmesavethedingo
Good work keep it up as I will
What a great website!
DingoWarrior certainly has a wealth of information included here. Hopefully it gets read by those who are not familiar with the dingo, its role in Australia, and the need to conserve them.
Only through education can we gain any chance of positive change, both in public rhetoric and government policy.

Congratulations !
Your hard work has been delivered in a brilliant website, you are not just a 'weekend warrior' but there for the long haul.
Saving the dingo and educating the public on this topic is so essential.
Sarah, Andre and myself were amazed at the publics call for understanding and information on and round the dingo when we attended a 'pet convention' in Perth with everything dingo related in our stall.
The dingo has been on the extinction agenda because of a political move by pasturalists who have a powerful lobby.
Dingoes keep all the ecology in balance as the top land predator. There is NO problem with feral cats, goats, foxes and pigs if nature is allowed to reign naturally without the irresponsible use of 1080 baits that litter the country and OUR National Parks.
There is a gallant charge happening and more and more people are becoming aware that if we can get the information to the public we might just be able to save our 'Lion King' before it is too late.
The information, photographs and news clippings on your website are both informative, bueatiful and encouraging.
Again congratulations !
I have never had a dingo before Lindy. It has opened my eyes, I have been so lucky to learn from her. Lindy is a great ambassador for the species. Such a gentle and elegant animal.
I was on TV with the dingo a few weeks ago and the usual push for sensationalism was extended when I was asked about what I thought of the Chamberlain case - 27 years ago? As tragic as that situation was with the loss of a child, it is weird that this situation is still so highlighted in the media. I pointed out that in Australia there are round 15,000 annual domesticated dog attacks. There have been a handful of dingo attacks on humans in two hundred years and it is always because of human intervention and often stupidity which result in negotive situations round the dingo.
In WA four years ago a woman was killed and her body was mostly eaten by four Rockweillers but this is not set in stone and constantly placed in the media focus.
There is a lot of rot that is permeated round regarding the dingo and that is why your website and the great network of information and links that are creating a more balanced picture are starting to surface and take shape in this land and round the world.
There are many ambassadors striving to help save the dingo both national and international.
The dingo has noww been 'red listed' internationally as endangered and the Humane Society have called for the dingo to be heritage listed before it is too late. Urging our politicians to work toward the same goal is paramount and alland sundry across this country can write to the politicians and demand we save the dingo!
Lyn Watson at the Dingo Discovery Centre is possibly one of the best 'All Breeds' judges in the world and would be without a doubt the most studied on the dingo also. Lyn and Peter Watson have Team Dingo orchestrated which will spread the facts and information out to the public to make sure that our forgotten Icon is saved before it is too late.
The work you have done on these Webpages is a credit to you. There are many people who start with a dedication to working hard to save the dingo, it is encouraging to see your passion for this worthy cause has not deminished. Keep up the great work!
